ABOUT TOY'S STUDIO PROJECT

Welcome to my port folio online. This website is showing as a digital form of my current project for RMIT University (Interior design).

The home experience

Immersive Environment.
For my final project, I have chosen to create a video, displaying the experience I have at home in an abstract fashion. The idea of this project was developed from my previous project, which started from brief one(Experience and Time) and brief two (Immersive Environment). After completing all the tasks in brief one, I started to develop ideas, which could be used for my final project. The exercises in brief one required the students to explore the concept of ‘space’ psychically and mentally. From this, I started to notice the different experiences of space I have at home, and thereon the differences in the space between day and night, weekdays and weekend.

For the second brief, our assignment was to produce a video displaying an immersive space at home. For this brief, I chose to demonstrate this experience by using a night scene where I was looking through a glass, filled up with water,
sitting next to a lamp.

Lastly, I wanted to combine the main ideas from brief one and two for my video for my final project by using two key concepts;experience at home and immersive. I captured some of the activity that I usually do at home and I cropped parts of it to fit into the frame to make it more interesting. The activity that I chose to put in the video are mainly related to glass and water; activities such as washing the dishes, pouring water, and dropping/breaking the glasses. I also added some effects from the Premiere Program to edit the video.

The sounds effects in the video are from the activities I do; showering, locking the door, things that happen in the surrounding; fire alarm, car noise from the road down stair and some natural sounds such as wind and rain. I used the microphone shotgun to record all the sound effects.

About half way through the video, the viewers will notice that the there’s no image displayed on the screen for a few seconds. This was done to allow them to really focus on the sound effects. Moreover, I intended to relay to them the experience of before going to sleep; when you turn off all the lights, and as one of your senses has been cut off, you will find that your sense of hearing becomes enhanced and you can hear the noises around you much clearer.
